Wallet, card holder, coin purse, keyring, smartphone case: small leather goods are judged by the number of compartments and their thickness when filled, not by their flat dimensions.
Small leather goods include everything that fits in a pocket or in a bag: wallets, card holders, coin purses, keyrings, and cases. The useful criterion is not the flat size but the thickness once the item is full, along with the number of actually accessible compartments.
A classic wallet holds notes, cards, and coins, at the expense of a thickness that distorts a trouser pocket. The card holder does the opposite: two to six cards, no space for coins, and a minimal thickness. The coin purse keeps coins separate from everything else, which lightens the wallet. Our small leather goods cover all three types.
In small leather goods, the zip-up format on three sides dominates: it holds coins and slips into a bag without opening. The flattest models prefer a two-fold design. This distribution is based on use, not a rule: the only criterion that matters is whether the item travels in a pocket or in a bag.
Leather small goods develop a patina and withstand years of opening and closing, as long as they are conditioned once or twice a year. Coated materials do not develop a patina but resist moisture better and can be cleaned with a sponge. Also check for RFID protection if your cards are contactless: it cannot be added later to a small leather good that doesn’t have it.
